Peripherals In Windows XP, how to play sound from both front and rear audio jacks?
First of all, make sure the audio cable from the chassis supports HD Audio then follow the instruction below:
  1. Double click  icon to access [HD Audio Manager].
  2. Click [Audio I/O] tab. 
  3. Click  icon.
  4. Uncheck [Disable front panel jack detection] and [Mute rear panel output when front headphone plugged in].
  5. Press [OK] to finish the procedure.
Driver / Software / OS What is the standard operation procedure of HD audio driver installation under WINXP?
Before installing HD audio codec driver please make sure Win XP has been updated with Service Pack. If Service Pack has not yet been installed, please try install service pack through Windows Update.

Please make sure service pack and patches are properly installed. If SP1 or SP2 has already been installed, kindly make sure that the system is not overclocked and also that onboard HD audio codec works at default settings.
Follow by inserting the driver CD's which is provided with the motherboard, when prompted with a pop-up box please select "Xpress Install" on the top right corner to install all the necessary drivers.

If you want to manually install the HD audio drivers then you will have to firstly download the Microsoft UAA Bus driver and install it. After you restart the system please check the model of your onboard HD audio codec, and download the matching audio drivers for installation. After the mentioned procedures are done the onboard audio should work accordingly.

If SP3 has already been installed, kindly download ths latest HD audio drivers from GIGABYTE's or audio chip vender's website to install directly. PS: When installing older HD audio drivers on Win XP with SP3, system may appear a message which is about Microsoft UAA Bus driver isn't been installed yet. Please use the ths latest HD audio drivers to install.
Driver / Software / OS Are there any restrictions or limitations when using Xpress Recovery2 software?
If your hard disk size capacity is larger than 137GB, Xpress Recovery2 will install successfully under Windows XP SP1or later, Windows 2000 SP3or later. If you are using any older versions of O.S to the ones that was mentioned, please install software called "EnableBigLba" , to ensure Xpress Recovery2 will install properly.
Others How to use Xpress Recovery2?
Xpress Recovery2 is designed to provide quick backup and restoration of hard disk data. Supporting Microsoft operating systems including Windows XP/2000/NT/98/Me and DOS, and file systems including FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS, Xpress Recovery2 is able to back up data on hard disks on PATA and SATA IDE controllers. After Xpress Recovery2 is executed from CD-ROM for the first time, it will stay permanent in your hard disk. If you wish to run Xpress Recovery2 later, you can simply press F9 during system bootup to enter Xpress Recovery2 without the CD-ROM. System requirements:
  1. Intel x86 platforms
  2. At least 64M bytes of system memory
  3. VESA-supported VGA cards
How to use the Xpress Recovery2 Initial access by booting from CD-ROM and subsequent access by pressing the F9 key: Steps: After entering BIOS Setup, go to Advanced BIOS Feature and set to boot from CD-ROM. Save the settings and exit the BIOS Setup. Insert the provided driver CD into your CD-ROM drive. Upon system restart, the message which says "Boot from CD/DVD:" will appear in the bottom left corner of the screen. Press any key to enter Xpress Recovery2. After the steps above are completed, subsequent access to Xpress Recovery2 can be made by simply pressing the key during system power-on.



*NOTE:
  1. If you have already entered Xpress Recovery2 by booting from the CD-ROM, you can enter Xpress Recovery2 by pressing the key in the future.
  2. System storage capacity and the reading/writing speed of the hard disk will affect the data backup speed.
  3. It is recommended that Xpress Recovery2 be immediately installed once you complete installations of OS and all required drivers as well as software.
The Main Screen of Xpress Recovery2
  1. RESTORE: Restore the backed-up data to your hard disk. This button will not appear if there is no backup file.
  2. BACKUP: Back up data from hard disk.
  3. REMOVE: Remove previously-created backup files to release disk space.
    This button will not appear if there is no backup file.
  4. REBOOT: Exit the main screen and restart the system.
Limitations:
  1. Not compatible to Xpress Recovery.
  2. For the use of Xpress Recovery2, a primary partition must be reserved.
  3. Xpress Recovery2 will store the backup file at the end of the hard disk, so free space available on the hard disk for the backup file must be allocated in advance. A minimum 4GB is recommended but the actual space is dependent on the size of the data to be backed up
  4. Capable of backing up hard disks installed with Windows operating systems including DOS and Windows XP/2000/NT/9x/Me.
  5. USB hard disks are currently not supported.
  6. Does not support RAID/AHCI class code 0104/0106 hard disks.
  7. Capable of backing up and restoring only the first physical hard disk.
    Hard disks detection sequence is as follows:
    1. PATA IDE primary channel
    2. PATA IDE secondary channel
    3. SATA IDE channel 1
    4. SATA IDE channel 2
    5. SATA IDE channel 3
    6. SATA IDE channel 4
Precautions:
  1. When using hard disks with more than 128G under Windows 2000, be sure to execute the EnableBigLba.exe program from the driver CD before data backup.
  2. It is normal that data backup takes longer time than data restoration.
  3. Xpress Recovery2 is compliant with the GPL regulations.
  4. On a few motherboards based on Nvidia chipsets, BIOS update is required for Xpress Recovery2 to correctly identify RAID and SATA IDE mode. Please contact your motherboard manufacturer.
  5. Peripherals My motherboard provides Wake On LAN feature as you mentioned. But, I don't know how to enable the feature. Can you tell me?
At first, please try to get into BIOS setup program. Then under Power Management section, please try to enable PME EVENT WAKE UP option and save the setting to exit the program. After reboot into Windows, please open Device Manager, then check the status of LAN controller and enable the device wake up option later.

Since the data requires decoding, volume control can only be adjusted through decoding unit or amplifier rather than the sending device motherboard.  
Peripherals Via the integrated ALC889A audio codec, is it able to output the DTS-HD audio via SPDIF interface?
Due to the output bandwidth of SPDIF interface is 3.1Mb per second and the DTS-HD audio is able up to 28Mb per second; therefore, the DTS-HD audio only can decode to LPCM audio format by ALC889A and then output to speakers.
Memory Why can't I enable some RAID function?
Due to the limitation of PC structure, the capacity of shadow memory is fixed. If the shadow memory is not enough, some of the RAID controllers will be inactive.
Memory I have installed Phenom CPU and memory modules according to the Dual Channel Memory Configuration table in user’s manual, but system shows “unganged mode, 64-bit” during POST. How do I enable 128bit dual memory channel?
Phenom CPU have two individual memory controllers DCTs, each one of them controls single memory channel 64 bit. These two DCTs can work simultaneously when memory modules are installed on different memory channels. It is called “unganged mode”.

You can switch to “ganged mode, 128bit” when you are using two or four of the same memory modules. Please kindly enter BIOS setup program, to press CTRL+F1 key to enable advanced BIOS setup features then enter "MB Intelligent TweakerM.I.T.\ DRAM Configuration", to set the “DCTs Mode” as “Ganged”.
BIOS What is the difference between 'EuP' and 'ErP'? I had noticed that 'EuP Support' had been replaced with 'ErP Support' after BIOS update.

ALC889A audio codec does not support DTS decoding function.
The DTS multi channel function is provided through the playback program, when using playback program that supports DTS decoding function such as Power DVD to play DVD movies, S/PDIF speaker will automatically output multi channel audio properly.
Storage Devices Why doesn’t the system recognize all 6 hard disks while using RAID 10 array? Instead, only 4 of them were detected.
RAID 10 requires to use a multiple of 4 HDDs. With recent technology and RAID 10 specification, so far it can only support up to 4 hard disk at a time while using RAID 10 array.

The 20-pin connector belongs to older ATX standard while 24-pin connector follows newer ATX standard. The 24-pin connector just the 20-pin cable with 4 extra wires to provide extra current. As long as your power supply can provide sufficient power to the motherboard, you can still use 20-pin power supply.

Please install the audio driver again by following procedure.
1. Please make sure your Windows XP have included service pack. Please right-click the “My computer” icon on desktop. Select “Properties\ General. Please refer to picture 1 as below If your system does not include service pack, please update from Microsoft official website. Please connect to internet and launch the “Internet Explorer”, click the “Tools” on the tool bar and select the “Windows Update”.
2. Please make sure if the “Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio” exist in “Device manager\ System devices”. Please right-click the “My computer” icon on desktop. Select “Properties\ Hardware\ Device Manager. Please refer to picture 2 as below. If the “UAA Bus Driver” does not exist, please install it from driver CD/ DVD. Please launch “My Computer”, open CD/ DVD drive\ Audio\ MSHDQFE\ Win2K_XP\ US”, to execute kb888111xpsp1.exe for SP1 system or kb888111xpsp2.exe for SP2 system. If your PC is SP3 system, please reinstall SP3.
3. If the “Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio” is work properly, there may be an “Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus” behind “Sound, video and game controllers” or an “Unknown device” behind “Other devices”. Please disable this device. Please refer to picture 3 as below. You can skip this step if device mentioned earlier does not exist in “Device Manager”.
4. Please disable the “Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio” as well. Please refer to picture 4 as below
5. After that, please uninstall the “Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio”. Please refer to picture 5 as below
6. When finish the above steps, please click the “Scan for hardware changes” button. Please refer to picture 6 as below When the “Found new hardware wizard” display, please do not click the “Next” button. Please click the “Cancel” button at this point.
7. You can now install the audio driver from driver CD/ DVD or from the driver file that you have downloaded from Gigabyte website. Please refer to picture 7 as below; the path in driver CD is \Audio \Realtek \Setup.exe
